# Canada's not so liberal when it comes to the Internet

I'm not sure how reliable [this is](http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar%2FLayout%2FArticle_Type1&c=Article&cid=1110150624459&call_pageid=970599119419), but it seems that the Canadian government has plans for their own version of [Carnivore](http://computer.howstuffworks.com/carnivore.htm), the "Lawful Access" initiative. It's amazing to me how a country who can legalize filesharing can come up with this sort of ass-backwards concept of allowing wiretaps (digital or not) without a warrant.
