# MGM is a movie butcher

According to an article I've just read on [Slashdot](http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/28/0235245&threshold=1&tid=97&tid=123&tid=1), at least 315 of MGM's so-called "widescreen" DVD releases have actually been the Pan & Scan versions with the top and bottom of the picture cut off. This basically means, when you buy the widescreen version , thinking you're getting the original print of the movie, you're actually getting *less* picture than the people who bought the P&S version. This is absolutely appallingto me.

There is currently a class-action lawsuit against MGM for this heinous act of flagrant disservice to movie-lovers everywhere. You can see the list of affected DVDs [here](/images/articles/2005/MGMClassActionDVDList.pdf) or go to [mgmdvdsettlement.com](http://mgmdvdsettlement.com/). You can return your hacked up discs for either a new one, or US$7.10 each.
