# Plane Crashes

Is it just me or have there been a lot of plane crashes in the media lately? [Toronto's Air France crash](http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-crash3aug03,0,25626.story?coll=la-home-headlines), [Greece's Cypriot airliner crash](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=359176&in_page_id=1770), [Venezuela's charter jet crash](http://www.boston.com/news/world/latinamerica/articles/2005/08/17/160_killed_in_venezuela_plane_crash/), and now one in [Switzerland](http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,13509-1747632,00.html).

Everyone always says that flying is statistically safer than driving, and that is absolutely true. But still, sometimes you can't help thinking and fearing the worst. I wonder if the media is just reporting more of them now. It's hard to gauge the difference between what they're reporting now and what they <span id="bkmrk-didn%27t" style="font-style: italic;">didn't</span> before.

It's not going to keep me from flying to the U.S. next month though...after all, the only crash in North America had no casualties, right? Right? :|
