# Widescreen is king!  Perhaps people aren't so stupid after all...

On [Amazon.com's DVD best seller list](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/286723/ref=ts_dh_1_f/102-5645432-1855360) the widescreen versions of both [Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's) Stone](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00003CXI1/102-5645432-1855360) and [Ocean's 11](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000062XHI/102-5645432-1855360) are outselling their pan & scan counterparts. Whether this is intelligence being displayed on the part of the consumers or just dumb luck, perhaps this is the beginning. If [Blockbuster](http://www.blockbuster.com) can be converted to carry widescreen over pan & scan, I believe we will have won.   
  
This is in stark contrast to only [last November](article.php?sid=81), when the pan & scan Grinch was outselling the widescreen version.
