Sir Bill of Microsoft

Is it just me, or is the Queen of England knighting people like it's going out of style? Originally, I thought, fine, she can knight whomever she wants, but at least up until now she was confining herself to British citizens, as they are the only ones who can legitimately use the title "Sir" in front of their names. I cannot see rhyme nor reason behind the upcoming knighting of Bill Gates.

Bill will become a "Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire", but since he's not British, no "Sir" for him. I think Sir Anthony Hopkins could kick his ass in a joust anyday.
